MY JOURNEY

Feb 2010 - Present Freelance Graphic Designer

Currently working with local Marketing Agencies and a Magazine Publisher alongside work with local businesses under the name of Cult Studios on advertising campaigns, website design and corporate identity. This involves me working closely with my clients, making sure I communicate their messages with high visual impact. Following my clients brief to create original ideas and concepts, choosing the appropriate media and style to meet the client’s objectives.

 

Aug 2008 - Feb 2010 Manning Publishing Ltd

Worked on a weekly interiors retail magazine called Cabinet Maker. My job was to layout the entire magazine, along with copy chasing artwork for display and classified, (also creating artwork when required.) I also helped out with layout work for our local authority magazines. These included Countywide, District Wide and South Cambs magazine.

 

May 2007 - Jul 2008 MB Media

When starting at MB Media I was working on four publications each month; Drummer, Guitar Buyer, Motorcycle Racer and Music Trade News, producing all subsequent layout work alongside Art Director, Richard Page. Each magazine has a completely different style, tailored towards its particular audience. Each publication was to be completed within one week with non- negotiable deadlines to be met. Working in this way has enabled me to refine the way I plan my work and gain valuable experience in a pressured environment.

 

Sep 2004 - May 2007 Transact Group

Working as part of a media team producing advertising in leading magazines such as FHM, Loaded and Zoo. We also advertised in America, Australia, Hong Kong and Chile. The artwork produced was varied and ranges from mobile entertainment, including mobile wap, ringtones, games, wallpapers and the promotion of live psychic services and chat lines. Working alongside media buyers, the workload was always busy and deadlines are often strict.

 

Oct 2002 - Sep 2004 Kall Kwik

My duties were to produce all design work, making sure artwork was ready for in-house litho printing and digital output. Work ranged from full colour A1 posters to simple one colour business cards. While working for Kall Kwik I gained a great deal of technical knowledge and experience in the printing trade which has been very beneficial. It was important to keep to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high quality of work.

 

Feb 2002 - Oct 2002 Digital Imaging Centre

This job involved a wide spectrum of work for which I was solely responsible. Designing projects from concept to completion would entail: taking briefs from clients, designing and overseeing  the print of the final job. The type of work would include posters, brochures, business cards, logos, leaflets, exhibition panels and graphics for the World Wide Web. I also worked alongside a professional photographer who we commissioned for shoots.
